AN Okehampton-based mountain rescue team member who had all his kit and equipment stolen from his Land Rover between callouts last weekend has been inundated with donations to replace it.

North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team member Tim Garrett’s Go Fund Me webpage has already raised £550 towards replacing £800 worth of kit and equipment taken from his vehicle parked near his home in Chulmleigh.

He said he had been ‘overwhelmed’ by the generosity of well-wishers who donated after the theft sometime on Sunday afternoon. It left him unable to join fellow members of North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team to go to the aid of a lost mountain biker on Dartmoor.

The gear stolen after the lock was forced included two rucksacks, LED torches and trousers, jackets and fleeces as well as a Petzl climbing helmet, a number of them branded with the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team logo.
