THEFTS and criminal damage are among the crimes to have taken place in the Okehampton area. #newsfromtheblues

• Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary took place at a property in South Hill, Chagford, between 6pm on July 20 and 11am on July 21. The gate to the property had been damaged as an attempt was made to gain entry. As a result, a trust box for the sale of eggs, at the front of the property, was stolen. CR/061792/17.

• A commercial waste bin, valued at £225, was stolen from Red Lion Yard, Okehampton, between 5.30pm on July 21 and 11am on July 22. CR/061753/17.

• Criminal damage was caused to the front door of a property in Pike’s Mead, Okehampton. Purple liquid was thrown by an unknown offender within a 12 hour period from midnight on July 24. CR/062688/17.

• Two men entered Okehampton Pet Supermarket between 9.35am and 9.38am on July 24 and stole an equestrian equipment collar, worth £32. CR/060990/17.

• Police are appealing for witnesses after a Renault Master Van had its rear window damaged in North Tawton on July 22 between noon and 5pm. CR/061537/17.

• Damage was caused to a picnic table behind Lidl supermarket, School Way, Okehampton, between 4pm on July 26 and 8am on July 27. CR/062368/17.

• POLICE are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after a theft from a property in the Spreyton area, which took place between June 1 and June 25.

Various items were taken from a filing cabinet in a room in the property including around 500 euros. In addition, various documents and paperwork were taken including passports and driving licences.

Amongst the paperwork were some original baby scan pictures of the victim’s twin children.

A police spokesperson said: ‘These pictures obviously have no monetary value and the victim would like these back. We are appealing for the pictures to be returned.’

The spokesperson said that the victims were extremely upset by the loss of these personal belongings and requested that these items were returned anonymously to Okehampton Police Station.

A reward of £200 is now on offer for the safe return of the photographs stolen during the incident.
