CAR break-ins and a robbery at Tavistock Football Club are among the crimes in this week’s #newsfromtheblues police page.

• POLICE are investigating a robbery that took place at the hand car wash premises on Plymouth Road, Tavistock. The incident happened between 5pm on August 15 until 9am the following morning. The premises had two power washers and washing chemicals stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police via [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting the crime reference number CR/068998/17.

• A man in Tavistock was found to have a small amount of cannabis in his possession at around 6.40pm on August 17. He was caught on Chapel Street in Tavistock and was given an on-the-spot fixed penalty charge. CR/069579/17. 

• A car parked at Merrivale Bridge, near Princetown was broken into on August 13 between 4pm and 5.15pm. The offender gained entry to a black Vauxhall car by smashing the near side window. The thief stole luggage, credit cards, debit cards, a driving licence, £25 in cash and a pair of glasses. CR/68113/17.

• A man cycling near the Warren House Inn in Postbridge was assaulted by a pedestrian on August 12. The man struck the cyclist sharply in the chest as he was riding passed. The cyclist managed to stay on his bike but said that when he turned around to speak to the man, he ran off. CR/067740/17.

• Tavistock police are investigating a robbery, which took place at Tavistock Football Club’s clubhouse on August 7. The thief was shown on CCTV breaking into the premises and headed straight toward to the charity boxes. Police said they believed the suspect to be male and added that there was no attempt to break into the tills or go behind the bar. The charity boxes were stolen and were later found empty on Drake Road, Tavistock. The amount that was taken was unknown and police are pursuing the enquiry. CR/067590/17. 

• A vehicle caused criminal damage to private woodland in Postbridge last weekend. The Red Isuzu Trooper was driving around a woodland area near Runnage Farm, causing significant damage to the area. The culprit drove through gates to gain entry, causing criminal damage. The incident happened between 11pm and midnight on Saturday, August 12. CR/067875/17. 

• Police are investigating a theft from a car parked in Postbridge, near the Warren House Inn, on August 14 between noon and 1pm. A rucksack, shoulder bag, laptop, tablet, two passports, credit cards and £1 in cash were stolen from the vehicle. Anyone who witnessed the theft is being urged to contact the police quoting the crime reference number CR/68336/17.

• An iPhone was stolen from The Wharf in Tavistock on August 15 at 3pm. It was reported to police that a staff member had placed their phone on a work surface when it was stolen by somebody near by. CR/068336/17.

• Credit cards, luggage, car accessories, a mobile phone and £70 in cash was stolen from a car parked in Princetown on August 15. The incident happened between noon and 6pm. The offender gained entry to the Citroen Berlingo by forcing the side door open. CR/069029/17. 

• A battery operating an electric fence on a farm in Gulworthy was stolen on August 16 at around 1.30pm. The offender removed the large battery from the fence and then loaded it into the back of a white transit van and drove away. CR/069058/17 

• A theft from a vehicle took place on the road between Postbridge and Widecombe-on-the-Moor on August 16. The thief smashed the back window of the Honda Civic to gain entry between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Items stolen included a rucksack, a purse, £30 in cash, three credit cards, driving licence, sat-nav and mobile phone. CR/069158/17.

• A car parked near The Wharf in Tavistock allegedly had its front number plate stolen on August 16 between 10am and 12.30pm. CR/069170/17.
