A POLICE vehicle was rammed, at speed, by a van last Friday (March 23) on the A386 between Hatherleigh and Folly Gate, causing injuries to the officers inside the marked police car.

Police are looking for information after the police vehicle stopped a white Vauxhall Astra van with registration plate R418 GFB at about 11pm. As the officers stopped, the Astra van then reversed at speed into the police vehicle causing injuries to the officers and damaging the vehicle.

The Astra van drove away with a broken rear windscreen and possibly a rear number plate missing. This vehicle was later seen in the Northlew area.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, especially for the occupants of a blue Peugeot 306 who drove past the incident and may have witnessed or caught the incident on dashcam footage.

The police announced on Tuesday that a man was helping police with enquiries in connection to this incident.
