THE Sprint Meet for 14 and unders at Central Park at the weekend attracted a huge number of swimmers from clubs throughout Devon. Tavistock?s eight entrants recorded 24 personal best times between them.
The highest placings went to Laura Radgick and Ross Williams who both swam personal bests to attain fifth position in the 50m butterfly.
In the girls? 11 years age group, the 50m butterfly was again especially successful with Laura Aspen knocking eleven seconds off her time. Laura?s highest position was in this event, finishing 11th in her age group.
Catriona Smith achieved three personal best times out of the four events, again achieving her best place in the 50m butterfly.
Catriona?s twin sister, Kirsty, who gained personal bests in all events, swam a pb of five seconds, also in this event.
The 12 years age group saw Francesca Gould swim three personal best times out of four events, her most improved swim being in the 50m freestyle.
Tabitha Gould and Laura Radgick, swimming in the 13 years age group, both gained three personal best times each with Tabitha?s best swim being in the 50m breaststoke.
Tom Grennan-Cruise and Ross Williams clocked six personal best times between them, with Tom, swimming in the 9 years age group, taking four seconds off his time in the 50m backstroke.
Head coach Paul Chinn said it was great to see all swimmers in this Devon Championships achieve personal best times, some knocking more than five seconds off their entry times.
The support for each swimmer from their team-mates was superb and the swimmers commented that they thoroughly enjoyed the well-organised competition.
