A FIRE which tore through a garage in Gunnislake last Thursday evening (June 11) destroyed the contents, including a 1960s 'Triumph Vitesse', the pride and joy of owner Michael Kinger.
Crews from Callington, Saltash, Tavistock and Bere Alston attended the fire in Fore Street at around 9.50pm and found the garage and workshop well alight.
Breathing apparatus and hose reels were used to extinguish the fire.
Mr Kinger, who owns Tamar Valley Butchers in the village, expressed thanks to the fire service for attending so promptly, and to the many people who had offered support.
His BMW and Triumph Vitesse, which he had spent the last four years doing up, were completely destroyed: 'The Vitesse was my pride and joy, along with all the tools which had accumulated over 30 years,' he said. 'It's the sentimental value rather than the cash value. We don't know how it started and we may never know.'
