A MAGICAL gift has found its way into Okehampton and is now on display at the town's museum. A Meldon glass cane from around the 1880s has been presented to the Museum of Dartmoor Life. The rare, twisted glass cane is in perfect condition. Museum curator, Maurie Webber, said: 'It is a perfect example in all ways, especially because of the curved glass. We are extremely lucky and grateful to be able to display it.' The cane was presented to the museum by Pauline Bray. It had belonged to her late parents, Eric and Bessie Day, who spent their whole life in Okehampton. Said Pauline: 'I thought it would be nice to leave a piece of mum and dad in the town.' The cane is on display now at the Museum of Dartmoor Life on Fore Street in Okehampton.
