TWO fishermen from Tavistock Trout Farm have made it through to the semi-finals of the 2003 Fly Fishing Charity Challenge in aid of the Vranch House School and Centre for children with cerebral palsy and physical disability.

The Tavistock heat of the challenge, which attracts anglers from all over the South West, saw Richard Voisey and John Atkins qualify in the first three teams.

Richard and his team-mate Ian Emmerson, who are both from Buckfastleigh, caught 12 fish, weighing in at a total of 42lb 7ozs, which was the best bag of the day.

Richard also won best individual bag with six fish for 22lbs.

The third best bag was caught by John Atkins of Ottery St Mary and Mike Conner of Exeter, whose tally was eight fish weighing in at 28lb 1oz.

Last year, anglers taking part in the challenge raised over £16,000 for the

charity.
