Devon and Exeter three

Lympstone 1

SOUTH Zeal finished the season on a high with an emphatic win against Lympstone on Saturday.

The visitors were the better side in the first half but could not convert good chances into goals and the second half started with Zeal 1-0 up courtesy of a well taken goal by Harley Cann who was put through by Daniel Gibbs.

Apart from the opening 10 minutes the second half was all Zeal and they went 2-0 up when Darren Gilbert outpaced the Lympstone defence and finished well from close range. South Zeal then hit the woodwork several times before Harley Cann completed his hat-trick with two very well taken goals to put the home side 4-0 up.

Lympstone reduced the deficit with a penalty but Lee Gilbert went forward on a mazy dribble and scored from close range to make the score 5-1. Harley Cann scored his fourth after a good move involving Reg Wonnacott and Dan Wakeham put him through but the best goal of the game came when Tom Reilly put Redd Cann through down the left, Redd beat two defenders before chipping the Lympstone keeper to give the home side a well deserved three points.
