Devon and Exeter three South Zeal Utd 1

Ottery St Mary 1

SOUTH Zeal started slowly on Saturday and went a goal down in the first 10 minutes when a cross from the right was not dealt with leaving a simple tap-in for an Ottery striker. Although the home side got better they barely created a chance in the first half as the visitors' defence coped comfortably with Zeal's attacks.

A goal down going into the second half South Zeal re-organised and started to give the Ottery defence problems with both Harley Cann and Darren Gilbert going close. However, the equaliser did not come until 10 minutes from time when Graham Soby put Darren Gilbert through in the penalty area; Gilbert was brought down and Phil Evans converted the resulting penalty. South Zeal pushed for the winner but the Ottery goal lead a charmed life as the post and the bar came to their rescue giving them a share of the spoils and a much needed point.
