Devon and Exeter three

Dolphin 3

SOUTH Zeal started well on Saturday and took the lead after 20 minutes when a well struck free-kick, taken by Redd Cann, could only be pushed out by the Dolphin keeper into the path of Ben Davey, who finished well from close range.

For the rest of the first half Dolphin had most of the possession and equalised when a attempted clearance was deflected into the path of a Dolphin forward and his shot went over the Zeal keeper and into the roof of the net.

South Zeal could have gone ahead early in the second half but chances went wide and the home side took the lead half way through the second half with a good header from a corner.

The visitors now pushed forward and deserved a second goal but Dolphin broke after a Zeal attack was thwarted leaving one of their strikers to run through and score.

South Zeal to their credit never gave up and had the home side hanging on to their two goal advantage until the final whistle.
