YELVERTON Tennis Club enjoyed a celebration dinner and dance at Tavistock Golf Club. 

There was good reason to celebrate as they have been awarded a grant by Sport England towards the refurbishment of one of their three courts. 

Members had also been busy fund raising towards the total of £6,000, which was the club's own commitment to the project.  Quotes are currently being obtained and it is hoped that a contractor can be appointed shortly so that works can commence. 

Wendy Sharland, a spokesperson for the club, said: 'This will be a huge benefit to the club who currently have two men's, three ladies and a junior team taking part in the Plymouth and District League. 

'New members of all standards are always welcome. We are a friendly club so if you haven't played for some time, now that the lighter evenings are coming, why not come down and take part in a club session on a Wednesday evening from 6pm?' For details call Wendy on 01822 853613.
