THE final two races of the year for members of Tavistock Athletic Club took place just two days before Christmas.

Torrington AAC's multi-terrain race, the Christmas Caper, predictably provided wet and muddy running this year but this did not deter U17s Harrison Baker who completed the 9.5 mile course in an excellent time of 1hour, 2minutes 21seconds. Harrison, who averaged six and a half minute miles, was first junior to the finish, in eighth place overall – a superb result from this very promising young athlete.

Next home was Graham De Val, in 1.27.55. Adrian and Claire Pitcher chose to run together, finishing in 1.44.05 and 06 respectively, Claire coming 10th in her age category.

On the same day, Peter Bazley was the only TAC to compete in the 6.27-mile Wellington Monument Race on an undulating, hilly but scenic course.

Peter rounded off an exceptional racing year by finishing a second under 46 minutes in 58th place overall and fourth in his age category.
