THE annual Peter Bartlett Youth Regatta took place at Roadford Lake with more than 40 sailors taking to the water and competing in two fleets — beginner and advanced. Each year the event aims to introduce new sailors to racing and support and encourage those looking to improve their skills.

The conditions were light in the morning, but built throughout the day to provide some great racing for the youngsters. Following some exciting racing, South West Lakes Trust's chief executive Evelyn Stacey presented the winners with their trophies and prizes, donated by Peter Bartlett, SWLT and event sponsors Ambrosia.

Phil Timings, Outdoor + Active manager at Roadford said: 'The Peter Bartlett Youth Regatta is the highlight of the youth sailing calendar at Roadford for many young sailors. By providing a supportive and encouraging environment our aim is to raise aspirations to take part in racing and develop relevant skills across a range of ages and abilities.

'The day was supported by Peter Bartlett MBE, Roadford Lake Sailing Club volunteers and South West Lakes Trust staff as well as being sponsored by Ambrosia. I would like to personally thank all the competitors and organisers for making the day great fun and overall a huge success!"
