Tavistock Hire Centre 2

TAVISTOCK Hire Centre moved to top of the table with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Chaddlewood thanks to two goals from man of the match Des Newton.

The first 30 minutes was a scrappy affair with neither side threatening to score but the game opened up when a long kick from Shaun Moloney found the head of Kurt Hadaway who flicked on to Des Newton to calmly slide the ball home under the advancing keeper.

Within five minutes Tavistock scored again and it was all down to Newton who went past three players to slam the ball home and send Hire into the break with a good cushion.

The second half saw both teams with chances to score but with 15 minutes left Chaddlewood were back in the game with a headed goal from a corner — Tavistock aggrieved as they felt there was a push on defender Marc Norman who was trying to clear.

With legs tiring Chaddlewood piled forward but Tavistock's defence held on to record another team victory.
