IT has been a very busy week for Tavistock Wheelers with their annual meeting on Thursday followed by their Christmas lunch at the Peter Tavy Inn on Sunday.

Twenty four riders assembled in Bedford Square for a morning ride which finished at the Peter Tavy Inn, where 31 members and guests had a terrific lunch.

It was great to see so many of the founder members there. Presentations were made to the 'Clubman of the Year', Martin Williams, and to the winner of the club hill climb up to Princetown, Josh Bullock.

It has been a fantastic year for the club and for cycling in general. Membership is at a record level and more than 20 riders turn up regularly to get the best out of the wonderful local countryside and keep fit.

The impact of British success in the Tour de France and in the Olympics has cascaded down to cycling in and around Tavistock. The club has more young members and female members than ever before. The core membership has been transformed by the introduction of so many new members and the rides are now organised to suit riders of differing pace and abilities.  Thanks must go to all the coffee shops that visited during the Sunday rides. The club is very supportive of new riders and details of its various activities can be found on the website.
