OKEHAMPTON U15's took on Torquay this Sunday in a pre Hallowe'en clash who certainly made it a bit of a nightmare for the opposition as they ran in nine tries against a committed Torquay side.
From the start it looked like a bit of trouble for Okehamptoon as Torquay ran in the first try within the first couple of minutes to go five points up. However, Jake Shinn and Blake Lovejoy scored tries to take the lead. Jacob Horn slotted some good conversions and Oke had 14 points on the board. Jack Piper then started to increase the pressure by scoring the first of his three tries to stretch the lead.
Torquay came back with a second try in the second half, but then Okehampton simply blew them away with tries from Reece Peacock, Tallun Burns, Pat Ewen, and two more from Jack Piper.
The final play was a superb pinpoint cross field kick from Brandon Horn that put Luke Shinn to score their last points in at the corner.

Spectators were treated to a pulsating match of rugby with both sides looking to run with the ball.

Ben Milligan quickly added a second after completing a good looping move with centre Bernie Sadler, which Hillson also converted.
Brixham, who were undefeated so far this season hit back with a try after some strong running from their big forwards. Milligan scored his third try of the half after he showed the pace to out strip his opponents and run in from the half way line; again George Hillson converted. Brixham rallied and after some nifty footwork from their outside half worked a second try.
Tavy forwards battled hard with back rowers Theo Cousins and Steve Kirby constantly getting stuck into the rucks and robbing their opponents of ball. Greg Cottrell and Harry Jeans scrummaged strongly and worked hard, making sure Tavistock kept winning the rucks. Ben Luke and Chris Watts ran the ball with determination and Scott Morris's hard and low tackling caused Brixham problems. Will Partington scored the away teams fourth try of the match but Brixham showed good spirit and scored a third try before the half time break.
Battling up hill and into the wind in the second half Tavistock made sure they kept the momentum as Milligan scored his fourth try; Hillson converted.
Brixham responded with a fourth try, which they converted and they were soon pressuring the Tavistock line again before Will Gardiner stripped the ball from them. Torquay sportingly offered two of their own to make the game a sensible one at 13 a side.
Okehampton never hit any great heights, but did enough for a comfortable victory. The score at the break was 17 apiece after Oke had played into the breeze. First half tries came from Greg Daniel, with two powerful thrusts from the number eight position at set scrums; and another from the lively Leon Horn, who also added one conversion.

A lineout near to Torquay's try line saw a nail biting moment for Oke but a quick thinking Nathan kicked the ball down towards the other end of the pitch for a good clearance.
Torquay scooped up the ball and worked hard to make up the lost ground, finally scoring after relentless pressure as the first half ended 21-7 to Oke.
In the second half Torquay played with more purpose bringing the score close to the home side.
With pressure Oke lost their shape allowing Torquay to have more effective attacks. However, sound defending from Callum, Daniel and Mo, determined running and passing through the backs Oke finished triumphant as the whistle blew.
Tavistock U11s 5
Withycombe U11s 0
IN the first game of a three way with Withycombe and Wadebridge, Tavistock faced their toughest challenge this season.
Both sides opened up with strong runs, hard tackling and fiercely contested rucks. Harry Richardson, Reuben Coleman, James Roisseter and Jack Bellamy for Tavistock embraced the physical challenge while half backs Dan Pett and Harry E working hard. Both Matt Davey and Noah Berridge flew off the rucks to shut down the Withycombe fly half. Withycombe did eventually find a hole, only to be thwarted by some intense defence by full back Henry Varndell-Dawes.
Tavistock soaked up pressure with some intelligent use of the boot from Dan Pett and Edward Tait to clear. With Ben McKenzie, Dylan Owen and backs James Kenyon, Ollie Sampson and Cameron Hart trying their darndest to find a weak link to no avail.
A draw looking like a fair result when in the dying seconds of the game Matt Davey ripped the ball, charged down the line and went over in the corner to steal the game.
