Plymstock U14s 0

Tavistock U14s 39

TAVISTOCK U14s put in an outstanding performance away against Plymstock.

The visitors dominated possession and territory in the first half, giving their opponents no opportunity to counterattack. Charlie notched up two tries in quick succession, well supported by Angus and Ollie.

A brief lapse in concentration by Tavistock was rescued by a great tackle from James, and a massive drive by the Tavistock forwards was barely contained by the Plymstock defence holding up the try. Ollie and Angus charged through for two more tries, the second converted by Matt.

Plymstock stepped up a gear in the second half, defending strongly, but were unable to prevent Charlie scoring three more tries, one from a run the full length of the pitch. This was converted in fine style by Harry. Tavistock's scrum, line out and passing were superb.

Tavistock U14s next game is against Okehampton.

Tries from Jack Piper, Brandon Horn and Hallum Chapman, and a strong second half showing from Okehampton were unfortunately not enough to break Ivybridge, who held out in a very hard fought and exciting match.

Tavistock U11s 19

Brixham U11s 19

TAVISTOCK retained their unbeaten record for 2012 but Brixham had a much better game than their previous encounter.

The first half was dominated by Tavistock, having the slight downhill edge. With his first try of the season, John Lord powered through the Brixham pack. After great work by Morgan and Brynmor, Tavistock scored a second from another forward, Archie Allen, but a conversion miss by Tavistock did prove key to the outcome of the game. A third try, by winger Jude White, after good work by George, Zac and Lachlan, saw Tavistock 19 points to nil at half time.

The second half saw Brixham with the higher ground enjoyed a reversal of fortune. Brixham started well with two quick tries but crucially one conversion was missed. Tavistock nearly got their fourth try when Cian Benny was just held up on the line.

With the final seconds counting down, Brixham edged over in the corner to level the scores with the final play of the game.

This was a fair result from two teams who all put their heart and soul into the game. Player of the match for Tavistock went to Morgan Turnock.

WITHIN 30 seconds of kick-off  after a strong forwards rush, a pop-up to Henry Varndell-Dawes saw him a crash through the Brixham defence to score. This set the tone for the game with Tavistock forwards Dylan Owen, Cameron George and Harry Richardson creating good platforms for the backs and making strong runs into the Brixham pack.

Half backs Harry Edwards and Noah Berridge combined well to keep Brixham under pressure. Another try form Henry and a well earned drive over the line for Dylan made it 3-1 at half time.

The second half saw Tavy continue their tight defensive line keeping Brixham at bay. Despite some strong tackling in defence from the away team Tavistock broke the Brixham mauling game, suck in the defence and strike in the gaps with some great individual runs from Henry Varndell-Dawes, creating two tries for himself and one for Harry Richardson. Ollie Sampson and Dan Pett finished the game with Tavistock six tries ahead.
