IT was full of surprises in the Tavistock Snooker League this week as West Devon C showed with a stirling effort coming away from Golf A with a win in the bag.
Grigg for West Devon gave new Golf player Watkins a baptism of fire as he romped home comfortable winner to set the tone for the night’s proceedings.
Golf A’s Turnbull soon had it all square with another easy win, backed up by an on fire Whitley who took no prisoners with a tasty 39 break to put Golf 2-1 up.
From that point on West Devon took the ‘bull by the horns’ and took charge of the game.
Elliott with a hard fought black ball game edged out Golf A’s skipper Pope, followed by West Devon C’s skipper Shrimpton, playing a superb captains innings to beat (non) danger man Ruth (senior) to secure an improbable victory for West Devon.
Conservative B secured a useful 4-1 win over strugglers Golf B to pull themselves away from the basement pack.
McKechnie and Ewings put Con C two up with not too many problems, before Golf B’s Treble with a sound showing reduced the arrears with a good win over Craze. It was all Con B from there on with Moloney repelling a stiff challenge from Congo to secure the match, followed by Neale who showed new Golf B player Gawman little mercy to make it four for his team.
