CONSERVATIVE C entertained West Devon C in what turned out to be a long evening in the Tavistock Snooker League.
First to show was Crowl (junior) who led the way against West Devon’s Smith, with a somewhat fast paced, yet scrappy frame.
Then Con C’s skipper Jago extended last season’s poor run, going down to Hodge in a convincing manner. Con C’s Dodd next up seemed somewhat bemused by the steady potting of Grigg, who played some good snooker to eventually make it over the line to put West Devon in front. It was Crowl (senior) who after a thrilling and long drawn out game against Elliott, eventually scrapped over the line with a rock solid pink and black to level the match.
In the final frame it was Shrimpton (senior) who gave a commanding performance to overcome Neale and take the match for West Devon and lift his side to second in the league.
West Devon B moved up to third place in the table by virtue of notching up their first win of the season at the expense of Golf A. Skipper Gilchrist put West Devon one up by taking out Golf’s Doc Finnigan in a game of two halves. Back came Golf with their skipper Pope completing his first ever league win at the expense of Rich senior. Rich seemed determined to put right last week’s run of six flukes to make amends with six foul ‘in-off’s’ this week, allowing Pope to secure the frame with a cool black ball finish. Horrell soon had West Devon in front again with a hard earned ‘black ball’ win over a combative Dave Treble.
Dave Hoare sealed the victory for West Devon with a trademark assured performance against Congo, a nice 22 break along the way doing most of the damage.
Golf’s Ruth made it a bad night for the Richard family with a hard worked win over Rich (junior); getting the better of some good safety exchanges was pivotal in his win.
