WEST Devon A closed the gap on leaders Conservative A in the Tavistock Snooker League with a four point haul from their game in hand.

Things got off to a shaky start though with West Devon D's Decieco taking a frame by disposing of Taylor in a close one. Emptage drew the A Team level with a win over Shrimpton (junior), followed by Morris (26) turning on the style to beat Shoulders to put the A Team in front. Wins for Kevin Rich (22) and Heathman against Murton and May respectively gave West Devon A a well worked four points. This win takes them to within touching distance of the top spot and further extended their unbeaten run this season.

Conservative Z against West Devon B saw both teams struggling to provide a spark with West Devon B finally grinding on to a successful outcome.

Mansfield for the Con Z slugged it out with John Rich, in possibly the most interesting frame of the evening, with Mansfield the eventual winner. Jankowski for the Con Z and Gilchrist of WDB plodded through to a black ball game with the WDB player taking the point. Steve Hall for the Con Z and Colin Bath continued in a similar vein. A re-spotted black gave Bath the opportunity to pounce on an unforced error by Hall, and sink a beautiful black 'off the rail' and with it the frame to WDB. There was another black ball game between Dodd for Con Z and Hoar for WDB which finally fell to Dodd. Trev Symons allowed WDB's Roger Rich free access to the table, and freedom to display why he's becoming a player to be feared.
