CONSERVATIVE A, seem to be feeling the pressure at the top of the Tavistock Snooker league. They were forced for the second week running to come from two down against a well organised robust West Devon C.

Previously unbeaten Longden was the first Con A scalp for West Devon as in form Pinkney took advantage of an uncharacter-istically poor potting display from the former to put his side one up. Bell continued his recent poor form for Con A which Williams exploited with a solid display, taking what was available and leaving little for his opponent. Con A's captain Carruthers produced one of his customary ruthless potting displays to overrun West Devon's Grigg and pull one back for the Cons.

Cook pulled Con C level, as he demolished Elliott with some outstanding potting.

In the decider against Con A's Babb it was hard to see how West Devon C's Hodge was going to lose as he potted virtually everything he went for and it was right down to a courageous difficult thin cut blue with pink to follow that eventually paid dividends for Babb's perseverance.

With West Devon A winning their game 5-0, and closing the gap on the Con A's to two points, with one game to play, this frame might yet prove to be pivotal.

Conservative Z played West Devon A. From the off the normally solid Jankowski for the Con Z's seemed tentative and conceded the game early on with only 3 points scored against Kevin Rich's 48.

McKechnie for Con Z fared a little better taking Rob Heathman to a re-spotted black, but failed to pull one back for his team.

The Con Z's highly rated Fitzsimmons lacked his usual killer instinct and potting expertise he eventually fell to Morris's continual onslaught. A lack of attacking flair by Con Z's Dodd against an aggressive Colin Heathman saw Dodd relegated to the position of innocent bystander for best part of the game.

Tim Taylor for the West Devon needed the last frame to secure a whitewash against for his side but despite a shaky start, his opponent Cath Friend, who put in arguably the best Con Z's performance, made Taylor work for every point and despite taking it to a black ball game failed to prevent the inevitable outcome.

It was 5-0 to West Devon and leaves West Devon only two points behind Conservative A with one game each to play.
