WITH Conservative A not playing, West Devon A took full advantage in the Tavistock Snooker League by taking over top spot with a firm 4-1 win over neighbours West Devon B.
Emptage (20) and Heathman made no mistakes in their frames as they took no prisoners to dispatch Gilchrist and Toland to put the WD A team two up. A flicker of optimism for the WD B Team was created with in form Hoar taking a frame off Morris to reduce the deficit, only for the light to be snuffed out as Taylor and Kevin Rich took out John Rich and Toland respectively in emphatic style.
Keeping pressure on challengers Con A was the order of the day for West Devon and they could not have asked for more as the second half of the season got under way.
West Devon C continued their recent good run to make it three wins out of the last three games, this time at the expense of a rather lifeless Conservative C. Missing the leadership of their skipper Jago, it was not long before an uncharacteristically poor performance from Con C's Neale against West Devon C's Elliott saw them go one behind. The theme continued with West Devon's Grigg and Hart inflicting heavy defeats on Weldon and Ward to make the match safe at 3-0. Further comfortable wins for Hodge and Pinkney over Wilkinson and Roffey made it a dream start to the second half of the season for West Devon C and an evening for Conservative C that they will fast want to forget.
