THE 22nd Dartmoor Pony Moorland Show took place earlier this month at the Old Playing Fields at Princetown, in glorious weather. Peter Honey judged the in hand classes and Sue Martin the ridden.

Tony and Elisabeth Brewington from Bradworthy won the gelding class with Dural Fernando and they also took the stallion class with Crowndale Cricket. Lizzie Houghton from Bovey Tracey won the Youngstock Champion-ship with her three year-old filly Langworthy Swift Ghost who also won the pony from the newtake scheme and their progeny class.

Andrew and Heidi Belcher from Newquay took the yearling class with Hisley Canoodle and were youngstock reserve. Mandy Hand and her three year-old filly Moortown Beth took the novice youngstock section.

The adult championship was won by Elizabeth Newbolt Young and daughters from Widecombe with their mare Shilstone Rocks Country Dance with the reserve going to Diana Alford from South Zeal with Cawsand Linnett. The ridden championship was won by William Houghton on Oakleat Mayqueen with Mr and Mrs  Ken Edwards from Widecombe in reserve with Langworthy Curlew. Millie Moores and Yeoland By Golly won the young handlers prize.

The show concluded with the supreme championship which was won by Shilstone Rocks Country Dance with Langworthy Swift Ghost reserve. Duchy of Cornwall and the show committee were thanked for organising the event.
