THE season kicked-off on Saturday for Yelverton Villa but 10 minutes later they were already 3-0 behind. Worse was to come soon after when a head injury resulted in the early substitution of key defender, Adam Measom.

After this initial shock Villa began to play some reasonable football and two strikes from Josh Vernon brought them right back into the game. Unfortunately, all the good work was undone on the stroke of half time when a speculative free kick took a deflection beyond the reach of James Northey in the Villa goal.

Yelverton started the second half in the same lacklustre way they began the first, and were again punished by Harvey's Garage Services who gave Villa a lesson in finishing. 

Yelverton spent the next 40 minutes laying siege to the Harvey's goal, but even when Ben Maughan beat the keeper he saw his shot cleared off the line by some last ditch defending. Despite all their pressure Villa could not score the goal that might change the balance of the game.
