AS part of their 125th anniversary celebrations Yelverton Villa FC on Sunday entered a team into a knockout competition at the headquarters of the Devon FA and  ran out winners after a keenly fought round of nine games.

They won tickets to this years Charity Shield match at Wembley Stadium on August 18.

The team comprised Joe Lewis, Marc Harris, Tom Lewis (captain) Martin Harris, James Graham and Mike Chatfield, who all contributed to the win, losing only one game and fighting off a challenge by a strong team from the Arsenal soccer school to win by two points.

The team showed great spirit to fight off the competition.

The team are still training on a Tuesday nights at the recreation field in Yelverton from 7pm —anyone is welcome to come along who may be that may be looking for a team to play for next season or they can contact Martin on 07920 820933.
