GOLF A continued their good run of form in the Tavistock Snooker League with a solid display against neighbours Golf B.

Paul Congo lead off for the B team started with a great display of potting to march into a lead that Pope had no answer to in this well matched game.

James Ruth showed his class and redressed the balance with some fine play, to balance the match score against a hard working B team captain Treble.

This was followed by a fine battle for Dave Turnbull of the A team who won with a break of 22 against Goble.

Next to play was Ian Appleton for the B team against Wylie for the A team showing his class by steadily building a score and holding out in a steady, but low scoring drawn out match, to put the match out of the reach of Golf B.

There was also a good display of snooker from Matt Whitley that proved too much for the B team’s Hough. Whitley also had a fine break of 22 to round off the evening.

Conservative A travelled to West Devon A and wished they had stayed at home as they went down to a 4-1 drubbing. This put paid to any lingering aspirations of holding on to their title.

The writing was on the wall from the outset with WD A going two frames up, firstly with Brookes getting the edge on Evans and then Heathman breezing past Bell.

The only high point of the night for Con A was Chris Wiles with a classy 33 break taking advantage of an injured Taylor. Normal service soon returned for West Devon with the ‘wily’ Morris inflicting a first defeat of the season on Con A’s Carruthers to secure the match. Kevin Rich soon made it four for West Devon with a dominant potting display producing a 57 and a 20 break to confine Babb to his seat for most of the frame. Top of the table just is reward for a strong West Devon A performance.

Conservative C started the New Year with a pleasing 3-2 win over Conservative B.

Jago nearly made his inaugural win of the season over the B team’s Ewings, unfortunately for him falling at the black ball.

The C team’s Davey put in a good shift to edge out Moloney in a close finish to pull his team level.

Star of the night Davies then had the C team in front with his biggest ever league break of 30 which left Lillicrap trying to pick up scraps for the rest of the frame.

Neale pulled the B team level again with a demonstration of quality potting, relegating Bellamy to mere spectator.

The decider was pinched by the C team with Bassett putting behind him some recent close loses, to shade McKechnie in another close finish. Good start to Con C’s New Year with this result pulling them out of the bottom two position.
