MOUNT Kelly swimmers were in fine form at the National Aquathlon Champion-ships 2015 which took place on July 12 in Falmouth, Cornwall. Mount Kelly had two competitors — Tom Brew (14) and Victoria Moore (15), both taking part in the under 20s section.
There was a beach start on Gyllyngvase Beach for the 750m swim, followed by a 5km run along the sea front. It was a cold, wet and misty morning for the competition which meant the swim was a wetsuit one.
Victoria recorded an overall time of 33.33 seconds in the women's event to give her second place overall, only being beaten by 10 seconds for the gold.
Tom was placed sixth in the men's with a 12 minute 28 seconds swim, followed by a 19 mins 23 secs run to give him an overall time of 31min 51 seconds.
Victoria, aged 15, went one place better at the South West Aquathlon Champion-ships for 2015, which were held in perfect weather conditions in Castledown, Portland.
In the 750 metre sea swim, followed by a 5k run, Victoria came out of the water third in a mixed race, but with a strong and steady run, Victoria overtook the leaders to comfortably win the South West junior title for 2015. An excellent performance.
