On Sunday Victoria Moore  from Mount Kelly  took part in the South West Biathle Champion-ships at Leweston School, Sherborne in Dorset.

The event, a 1,000 metre run, 200m swim, 1,000m run saw Victoria enter the pool 9th ( out of 16) but with an  aggressive swim,  climbed out in fourth for the final 1,000m run.  The last lap saw the 15 year-old overtake in a strong run to finish third overall. Her overall time was 9.58 minutes.

Last month Victoria took part in the Dartington Duathlon in South Devon on March 29 in absolutely horrendous weather conditions of heavy windy rain.    The race consisted of a 5k road run followed by a 20k bike ride finishing with a 2.5k cross country run.

Victoria, aged 15, was placed third in the mixed under 18 category and 10th in the female category. Victoria's overall time, including transition, from run to bike then bike to run, was 1 hour 18 minutes 48 seconds, knocking off more than seven minutes from last year's race.

It was a great effort in challenging conditions.
