A MINUTE'S silence turned into a huge round of applause as footballers and friends celebrated the life of their friend Caroline Goldring. Grub Up's team, led by Scott Dent, and a Community Team, managed by George Scott, played friendlies against the Tavispecials Stars and Diamonds at Tavistock College to make sure this brave young woman's memory was honoured by fun and friendship. Around 100 people attended the match on Sunday, which saw glorious sunshine, in between intermittent showers. Graham Goldring thanked everyone for the match and was thrilled to hand the cup, draped in ribbons of British Airways colours — as Caroline was part of BA's cabin crew — to captain of the Specials Bobby Upham. A collection took place and more than £330 was collected to go to Caroline's Cancer Charity. From the atmoshere and fun that was had it was suggested that this event could carry on in the future.
