PAUL Batten and Di Johnson, Okehampton Smallbore Rifle Club’s top prone rifle shooters, have both having shot superbly all season in the North Devon League.
Paul and Di are in top division one of the North Devon individual league and Paul is delighted to have won the overall competition. It is an improvement of his third place of last year and also his average, which now stands at 98.94 after 18 rounds, is just a shade under the 99 which has been his target this season.
Di is also thrilled to win the ladies’ overall competition for the first time, also improving on her second place of last year. Di has had her best season ever, increasing her average up to 97.89 from 96.05 last year.
In the North Devon League veteran’s section, Paul won this too, having been third last year … and Di was second - a great result for them both and for the club.
In league for teams, Okehampton Club’s A team of Paul Batten, Di Johnson, Lawrence Bennie and Martin Elliott had the great result of being second in division one after the 18 rounds.
In division two, Okehampton B team of Grahem Spier, Stuart Bennie, Amanda Elliott and Steve Cook were second – a result they are all really pleased with. The C team of Ivan Trickey, Stuart Batley, Peter Paterson and Adrian Hasell took fifth place. In division three, the OSCR D team of Paul Snell, Terry Southcott, Peter Blake and Chris Short were third.
There was also an excellenet result in the Devon Winter League for the Okehampton C team who won division four. Consisting of Ivan Trickey, Chris Short, Peter Paterson, Paul Snell, Adrian Hasell and Roger Bird the team shot consistently well all season, winning 13 of the 18 rounds.
