MEADOWLANDS Leisure Pool in Tavistock will host a junior triathlon on Saturday, January 19 for beginners aged eight years old.

The triathlon will start at 2.30pm in the tennis court and will move in to the swimming pool at 4.15pm and will finishing at 5pm.

Fully qualified British triathlon coach, Clare Short, will lead the event.

All entrants must have a well-maintained bike, a suitable cycling helmet and trainers and be confident enough to swim at least two lengths of the swimming pool

The centre is due to host another junior triathlon for intermediate standards on Saturday, February 16.

The entry fee is £15.

Dave Smith, the business manager at Meadowlands Leisure Pool, said: 'We are delighted to be hosting the Junior Triathlon! It will be a great opportunity for the children in our community to come together and enjoy sport. It is also a great chance to try out different sports all at once.'
