MILTON Combe’s Trish Deykin was the first female home in the South Hams Triathlon on Sunday, June 11.
The event, held at Blackpool Sands, consists of a 750-metre swim in the sea, a 20 kilometre bike ride along Slapton Sands and a five kilometre, four lap run.
The triathlete, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, only got back into competing last May after three years off following the 2013 World Championships due to her treatment.
Trish, who finished 11th overall in a time of 1.14.34, said: ‘ Despite the rain the day before and the treacherous corners on the bike course — I narrowly missed a crash — the cycle was fun.
‘The final part was the run which included jumping over a small wooden fence. Due to having a dodgy ankle and not being able to run off-road I did a decent time.’
The event was a warm up before Trish competes for her age group at the European Championships in Dusseldorf on June 25.
She thanked Mount Kelly Swim Centre for supporting her training and allowing her to train for free.
