THE Tavistock Squash Club Academy has started using the Off The Wall Junior Progress Awards to encourage academy members to develop their squash skills in co-ordination, accuracy, strategic thinking, teamwork and competitiveness.
The scheme has six levels which get progressively harder, so by the top level, the squash is played at a highly competitive level.
With the first coaching sessions having been completed, two academy members have already been assessed and Kieran Savage and Alex Wardle have both passed level one.
The next academy sessions will be running July and the first two weeks of August.
There will be different coaches organising the sessions and the emphasis will be on having fun and playing squash.
All youngsters wanting to learn to play squash are welcome.
Coaching is free and the only requirement is indoor non-marking sports shoes. All equipment, rackets, safety goggles and balls are provided free.
