FOURTEEN members from Tavistock Company of Archers enjoyed a spot of friendly competition in the West Devon's twin of Pontivy, France.
It is the sixteenth year the event has taken place with members forging new friendships with French friends.
They were greeted by the president of Archers de Pontivy club Jean Yves Boscher and many club members.
On the Saturday in sunshine the first part of the archery challenge was a tricky field course followed in the afternoon, after a long lunch break, by shooting at 50 metres and 30 metres for those who did not have sights or were juniors. Tavistock members shot well, scoring personal bests for these distances but there was a win for the home team by a short margin,
The Sunday saw all members and there hosts set off for the day for a visit to the seaside town of Carnac and then on to visit the sailing exhibition in Lorient which figured the display by the famous French sailor Eric Taberly. In the evening a dinner was hosted by the CoA's French friends to say thank you for their visit and also for the friendly competitive spirit in which the Tavistock members conducted themselves this weekend.
On behalf of the chairman and the club Lez James invited the Archers De Pontivy to visit Tavistock in 2014.
The evening ending with Jean Yves Boscher presenting the Cammann Trophy to Peter and Annita Bales for there outstanding contribution this year and also a long service award to there club member Eric Bourgoine who has given 33 years service to there club.
