THE fifth Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) half marathon took place on Sunday in the beautiful surroundings of the National Trust's Lanhydrock House,  starting and finishing at the Dragon Leisure Centre in Bodmin.

This half marathon is an undulating multi-terrain event, three miles on tarmac and the remainder on tracks, muddy trails and across a field at Lanhydrock.

Three Bere Alston Trekkers, Martin and Hilary Head along with Christine LeFlem, braved the inclement weather conditions to take part in this Grand Prix event with two achieving distance personal bests.

This is one of the few local events in which runners are allowed to participate with their dogs, and Martin and Hilary took advantage of this by running with their border collies Pippa and Jasper.
