IN division one of the Okehampton and district table tennis league Milton Abbot A played Okehampton C.
The visitors went ahead when Josh Parsons beat Ian Osbourne. The next was a hard fought five setter when Michael Blatchford beat Emily Haskell to level. Michael then beat Josh, also in five. Connor Brooking beat Ian in another thrilling five setter to give an overall 8-2 win for Okehampton C.
Horrabridge A were home to Okehampton B. John Stewart won the first against Nick Jackson before Roni Callando levelled the match by beating Brendon Stewart. Bob Newcombe beat Sarah Jackson in the fifth set while Nick went on to beat Brendon to level at 2-2.
John beat Sarah and went on to complete a fine maximum, beating Roni in the last singles to lead 5-4. Bob won singles for Horrabridge A with Roni and Sarah one each for Oke B. Sarah and Nick won the doubles against John and Brendon for a 5-5 draw.
Also in division one Tavistock were at home to Okehampton A. The home side went into a 2-0 lead with Roger Bowkett beating Karen Stephenson and Mark Bennett overcoming Steve Tyler. Emily Haskell won the next for Oke against Peter Hicks while Mark went on to win next two singles for a fine maximum. Roger won his second against Karen, while Emily pushed Mark all the way just losing out 11-8 in the final set. In the last singles Roger lost his 100% record when he was beaten by Steve Tyler. Mark and Peter won the doubles against Karen and Steve for a 7-3 win for Tavistock.
In division two Anchorage B played the young team Okehampton E. Roger Gilbert won the first against Eli Holt in three sets. Aiden Frew-Smith beat Dave Vanstone to level then Anchorage stepped up a gear winning the next seven singles and the doubles for a 9-1 win for Anchorage B — Dave Wilson and Roger both scoring maximums with Connor Madge taking both to a third set decider.
Gunnislake played Horrabridge B. Michael Kinger, Michael Alexander and Jack Flockton were unbeaten for a 10-0 win.
David Stewart took Jack to four sets.
Milton Abbot B were at home to Moretonhampstead, who won the first two games when Ken Underhill beat Tom Doidge and David May beat George Anderson. Angela Harod won the next against Richard Underhill and she pushed David and Ken all the way in her next two singles — just losing out in the third sets. Ken and David beat Tom and Angela in the doubles for a 7-3 win for Moretonhampstead.
