'GRUB Up' and 'Seagulls' — they certainly go together, you can bet your shirt on it!

When Graham Goldring, from the 'Grup Up' mobile catering vehicle in the Whitchurch lay-by on Plymouth Road, was looking for a set of football shirts for the 'Grub Up' football team, who play in the Tavistock Community Sports Centre's Winter seven-a-side football league, he asked his friend Allen Lewis of the Tavistock Specials for any ideas.

As they are both Brighton and Hove Albion fans - Graham's roots are from the West Sussex city while Allen used to be a mounted police officer at the club's old Brighton Goldstone ground in the 1970s — Allen suggested contacting the 'Seagulls' to see if they could help.

A couple of phone calls and emails from Allen explaining about the support he gets from local footballers and the success of the Son-Rise Cup which, has brought so much pleasure to people suffering from autism and learning difficulties, convinced the club to support this idea.

At a greatly reduced cost, the kit and store manager decided to help and show the good will of their club in supporting a team whose players have taken part in this ever growing and popular event.

Forty-eight hours later a huge parcel arrived with nine sets of the actual kit the Championship team currently wear.

Graham was delighted, as are the lads who will wear them and this certainly has made him being a sponsor more personal. The Grub Up team manager Ben Stephens from the Duke of York Inn was 'over the moon' and said a huge thank you to Graham and Brighton and Hove Albion.

So on Sunday nights in Tavistock's all weather pitches and at the this year's Son-Rise cup football festival look out for 'Grub Up' proudly wearing the blue and white stripes of the Seagulls — ready to swoop, scavenging for any opposition and eating up the opposition!
