TAMAR and Tavy Gig Club ladies took part in the Three Rivers race held at Saltash earlier this month.
The team of Sarah Gall, Susan Douglas, Amy Ross, Denise Nixon,
Debbie Farmer, Helen Lloyd and cox Lynn Renton were faced with a fast flowing river for one of the longest races of the season.
After a fairly sloppy start, and with another boat zig zagging across the water in their way cox Lyn Renton did great job of finding us some clear water to get into the team into its stride and rhythm.
After the first buoy the water was in their favour for the next session of the race back to the bridge and had overtaken the Cream of Cornwall with a good lead.
As they turned at the buoys and began heading back upstream they felt the water harden as the current and wind pushed against them; the crew gave it everything in that last stretch to pass three boats in the final stretch.
