Tavistock Tennis Club held its Summer knock-out tournament with the finals of the annual inter-club tennis competition. There were some exciting and hard-fought matches.

Particularly exciting was the men's singles match which was played over three sets ending with a nerve-shredding tie-break to conclude the third set. The winner, Peter Bradley, is 17 and the youngest member playing in the senior league.

Results: Men's singles, Peter Bradley; runner-up Luke Wakley, score 3-6, 6-1, 7-6. Ladies singles Amanda Goodison; runner-up Kathryn Blackie. 6-0, 6-1. Ladies doubles, Amanda Goodison and Roma McMahon, runners-up Wendy George and Olga Rogers, 6-2, 6-1. Men's doubles Gareth George and Matt Smith, runners-up Luke Wakley and Martin Weaver, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6. Veterans mixed Viv Iles and Max Goodison, runners-up Jenny Read and Rick Read, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
