The Mid February Tournament at Tavistock Tennis Club was well supported, with 28 competitors playing in this fun tournament, where individual scores counted and the winning male and female players from each draw played each other in a final set.
Peter Bradley and Claire Glanville and Matt Smith and Tric Locker won through, with the former couple having a run away victory over the latter. It was a long match being played in fading light as the sun was setting. Players thanked Ray Hinton for organising the tournament and to all of those who contributed to the tea.
At the end of the 2011 Plymouth and District League Tennis season, Roma McMahon received a Merit award for winning 87% of sets played in division three. The mens A team won division one convincingly, and all four players, Linden Hardisty, Josh Brown, Simon Prout and Phil Ruse received individual awards for their achievements
A new weekly afternoon club session will start on Monday, March 5 from 2-4 pm. It is hoped that it will be well supported by new members and the less confident players.
