Fresha Devon and Exeter division three
North Tawton 2
South Zeal Utd 4
SOUTH Zeal have had a good run of results recently and continued in the same vein at North Tawton on Saturday.
After missing several good chances the visitors took the lead when Darren Gilbert was brought down in the penalty area and Daniel Gibbs converted the resulting penalty.
North Tawton's forwards were always dangerous and only some good defending by Tom Reilly, Lee Gilbert, Ben Davey and Dan Wakeham kept them from equalising.
However Darren Gilbert and Harley Cann were always a threat for South Zeal and when some good work down the left between Spencer Stallion and Redd Cann put Darren Gilbert through. South Zeal increased their advantage when his shot was blocked and the rebound was hit home by Scott Hooper for a 2-0 lead.
North Tawton finished the first half well and reduced the deficit 10 minutes before half time from the penalty spot.
For the first 15 minutes of the second half the home side put South Zeal under pressure and only a great save by Reg Wonnacott kept the visitors in front.
However, gradually Zeal started to assert themselves and went 3-1 up when Redd Cann broke through the middle and hit a great shot from 20 yards that beat the home keeper at his left hand post.
North Tawton made the score 3-2 15minutes from time but Harley Cann made the points safe for the visitors when Oliver Holman put him through down the left and Harley beat his marker and finished well from a tight angle.
