TAVISTOCK Wheelers ares continuing their successful Go Ride sessions throughout the summer holidays.
The sessions take place every Saturday morning at 9am at the tennis courts in Tavistock College.
The club has been provided with a range of prizes from British Cycling, as part of its ‘summer of fun’ initiative, which provides opportunities for youngsters to learn new bike skills in a safe off road environment with British Cycling qualified coaches.
The sessions, for 9 to 14 year olds. have proven to be extremely popular, with capacity being reached, before the club developed more coaches and sought additional facilities
Club spokesman Geoff Whitlow said: ‘Though the club’s youngsters have started to compete, and have been prominent in recent local contests, there is no pressure to compete, the emphasis being on having fun The sessions have also been noticeable for the high number of girls taking part.
’There is a minimum of formality, the youngsters need only a bike in good working order and a helmet. More details can be found in the Tavistock Wheelers Youth Cycling Facebook Group.’
