SEVERAL students from Tavistock Clubs were involved with the Tavistock Town Jubilee celebrations in the Meadows, performing a jujitsu demonstration.

Umberto, the club instructor, said when he was asked to put on a jujitsu demonstration he shared the request with the students and was overwhelmed by the support he received, particularly as it was a bank holiday weekend and many had already made plans.

'We started preparing and rehearsing the demonstration, hoping to create something entertaining for the public as well as portraying what jujitsu is all about. I am proud to say it was fantastic. Everyone did extremely well especially the youngsters as they only had one or two sessions to prepare their display.'

Some of the comments received on the day were: 'It was fun and exciting!', 'It was amazing!', 'Where can I learn jujitsu'

Currently all clubs are running beginners' courses. Anyone is welcome to come and try jujitsu be it for fitness, confidence building or wanting to learn self-defence. The first month is free.
