TATE Budge from Tavistock made a big impact at the International Taekwon-Do Federation British Championships.
Tate, who has been training since the age of four with South Coast Martial Arts, took gold in the second dan boys patterns division at the event in Swindon, Wiltshire.
He also fought well to take a bronze in sparring.
He trains regularly in Plymouth and helps instruct at the Taekwon-Do classes on a Monday and Wednesday night at Tavistock Town Hall.
Tate is hoping to represent his country at the world championships in Rome in 2014.
Success was also achieved by his Plymouth team mates Matthew Ambrose, Thomas Trace and Rhys Roffey.
