LAST Sunday, in cold, dry conditions, four members of Tavistock Athletic Club competed in the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Half Marathon in the grounds of Lanhydrock House at Bodmin.

Roger Hewitt was running his first race of the year and he was first TAC to the finish in a gold award time of 1 hour 54 minutes 16 seconds. Seconds behind Roger was Paul Waldron, in 1.54.57, while Andrew and Helen Alcock, competing as part of their Grizzly training, finished in 2.07.27 and 2.19.58 respectively.

On the same day, Mike Baker was a lone club entrant in the Dalwood Three Hills Challenge, a 10-mile multi-terrain race around the hills of Dalwood between Axminster and Honiton. 115 athletes took part and Mike finished 51st in a time of 1.34.15.
