THERE were some excellent achievements from Tavistock Athletic Club athletes at the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championship on the muddy fields of Cofton Park in Birmingham.

This top event was televised live on Sky Sports 3 and gives up-and-coming athletes the opportunity to match themselves against established cross-country stars in the senior, U20s, U17s, U15s and U13s age groups.  Hundreds of athletes had to overcome testing conditions as the mud worsened over the day's ten races.

Tavistock AC juniors Lachlan Fulton, Harry Herdman, Sian Temple, Jasmine Gray, Emily Attfield, Tess Masselink, James Best and Sam Lane De Courtin represented their counties in this prestigious event and they all put in strong performances.

Lachlan Fulton and Harry Herdman competed with over 300 athletes in the 3km U13 boys race.  Lachlan ran well to finish in the top third of the field in 11 mins 26secs with Harry finishing in 12,54.

Sian Temple and Jasmine Gray competed in the 3km U13s girls with Sian running a superb race to finish within the top 10 in 11.55.  Jasmine also ran very well to finish in mid-position a minute later.

James Best and Sam Lane De Courtin in the 6km U17s men put in good performances, finished in 20.28 and 20.45 respectively.

Emily Attfield and Tess Masselink competed in the 4km U15s girls.  Emily and Tess both ran strongly to finish in the top quarter of a field of almost 300 athletes in 18.45 and 18.55 respectively.

Allan Herdman from TAC congratulates all eight TAC junior athletes for competing in this major event.
