ALMOST 100 runners turned out on Saturday to take part in Tavistock Athletic Club’s monthly 5k run, the Tavy 5.

This particular run was a little special, as the proceeds will be given to the Tavistock Parkinson’s Support Group for local people living with the disease.

Runner Val Evans, who works tirelessly for the group, said: ‘Correct exercise is as important for people with Parkinson’s as their medication. This wonderful event will help people with Parkinson’s in the local area get the right exercise for them, to help them manage their condition.

‘I would like to say a massive thank you to Tavistock Athletic Club for their generosity and such a fantastic, well-organised event that was so much fun to be part of.’

Val asks that anyone who would like more information about the Tavistock Parkinson’s Support Group contact her on [email protected] or 07778 552 325.

TAC is grateful to runners, supporters and helpers who donated so generously and raised more than £400 for this excellent cause.
