FOUR Tavistock Athletic Club runners competed in the 'Honiton Hippo' on Sunday. The annual event, a tough multi-terrain race over seven miles of mud, sweat and tears was well supported with over 175 participants.

The course included several steep climbs, a circuit of the Land Rover Experience course and two crossings of the River Otter.

A tremendous run by James Best brought him in third overall and first in the junior category with a time of 53 minutes 32 seconds. He was closely followed by team mate Harrison Baker who came fourth overall with a finishing time of 54min 52sec.

Their dads also finished in close order with Richard Best 25th as well as first in the over-50 category in a time of 64min 05 secs while Mike Baker finished 28th, in a time of 64 mins 34 secs beating his course best by three minutes.
