THE winter cross country season continued with the fourth race in the Westward Cross Country League, held at the daunting Westward Ho! course.
Normally the event is held in bleak weather conditions, but Sunday saw a nice glimpse of sunshine to help the runners around the marshland course.
Tavistock Athletic Club once again had a large turnout with 36 athletes making the journey to the north Devon seaside town. Over the years the club has often had two members of the same family running, but the Page family had three racing in the junior events.
There were some strong TAC performances across the age group races which moved individuals and teams up in the league standings.
The senior men finished fourth on the day, under 17 boys finished first team and moved to top of the league and U15 boys finished second team and moved to second in the league just five points behind leaders North Devon.
In the women’s races the TAC team moved to fourth in the league, nine points behind bronze and the under 13 girls finished equal first to move into second overall.
With just two races in the league left to complete there are still good opportunities to affect overall league finishing places.
